Sven-Harrys konstmuseum was founded by philanthropist and art collector Sven Harry. The museum’s art collection includes paintings and sculptures by Sweden’s and the Nordic Region’s foremost artists such as Carl Fredrik Hill, Helene Schjerfbeck, Ernst Josephsson, Edvard Munch, August Strindberg and Anders Zorn, to name a few.
Our art collection is displayed in a unique replica and home environment of the 18th-century estate Ekholmsnäs, Sven-Harry’s former residence. In the collection, art meets textiles and antiques from some of history’s most skilled designers and craftsmen, including Märta Måås-Fjetterström, Georg Haupt, Gio Ponti, Eero Saarinen and Åke Axelsson.

Carl Fredrik Hill & Fanny Churberg
– towards a new landscape
Apr 19-Sep 15 2024
During the spring and summer of 2024, Sven-Harrys Konstmuseum shows unique Nordic landscape paintings from the 19th century by two of the most pioneering artists of the time, Carl Fredrik Hill (1849 - 1911) and Fanny Churberg (1845–1892). Both struggled with their career in different ways – to realize their artistic ambitions and gain public recognition.
Finnish Fanny Churberg's dramatically rendered and expressive landscapes in strong colors meet Carl Fredrik Hill's deeply personal, shimmering and pre-expressionist paintings in the exhibition. During an intense and creative period, they were in France to portray the lush nature of the Fontainebleau Forest. With inspiration from some of the leading figures of the Barbizon School, Corot, Rousseau, and Courbet, they developed an entirely new type of landscape painting.
At Sven-Harry's art museum, the related, but strongly personal artistry is brought together for the first time before they both end their painting in different ways. Fanny Churberg, in the shadow of her male artist colleagues, ends her career abruptly and Carl Fredrik Hill who unfortunately enters a period of severe illness.
